LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) documents and 911 call recordings detailed the day that UNLV student-athlete Benjamin Christman was found dead in his Las Vegas residence.
Two men told police they had gone to Christman’s house when he didn’t show up for practice. He said they had entered the residence through the back door when they found Christman.
A recording of the dramatic 911 call presented the moment Christman’s teammates found him in the residence.
“Me and my friend went to pull up at the crib, and he is laying on his back and foaming from the mouth, and his fingers are purple,” the caller told a 911 dispatcher.
The 911 operator encouraged the teammates to move Christman to the floor and asked the caller if a defibrillator was available.
“We don’t have anything here, ma’am,” the caller said.
“I understand, just get him on the floor,” the dispatcher said.
According to the police document, arriving law enforcement officials were told that Christman had had chest pains during practice the day before. A coach performed an EKG test on Christman, and a team cardio doctor told them the results looked normal.
An unidentified roommate told police that Christman had arrived at his residence around 3 p.m. the day before the incident and gone straight to his room. According to the LVMPD document, the roommate didn’t see Christman for the rest of the day or night.
The documents stated that an examination of the room didn’t find any weapons, narcotics, or anything suspicious in Christman’s room.
