We open up NHL predictions with the Detroit Red Wings taking on the Carolina Hurricanes. Detroit is expected to start Petr Mrazek in between the pipes in this one. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Red Wings are 3-6-1 in the last 10 games, but did get a victory in its last time on ice. Lucas Raymond has tallied 22 goals and 46 assists for Detroit.
Pyotr Kochetkov is the probable starter for the Hurricanes, who are 7-3 in the last 10 games. Carolina has also won five straight games prior to this Eastern Conference matchup. The Hurricanes have a 12-4-2 record in games decided by a goal. Sebastian Aho has been averaging a point a game as of late with six goals and four assists over the last 10 games.
This is an important game for both teams, but Carolina picks up the win.
Prediction: Hurricanes win 4-2.
Edmonton Oilers vs New York Islanders
Head-to-Head: Oilers 1-0 Islanders
Time: 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: SN West; MSGSN; ESPN+
Our next game of NHL predictions has the Edmonton Oilers visiting the New York Islanders. Calvin Pickard is the projected starter for the Oilers, who are 3-7 in the last 10 games. This includes two straight losses for Edmonton going into this game. Leon Draisaitl has been red-hot as of late with seven goals and eight assists over the past 10 games.
Ilya Sorokin is the likely starter for the Islanders, who are 4-6 in the last 10 games. New York is also losers of two consecutive games prior to this one. The Islanders have gone 10-2-1 in games they convert at least one power play. However, that’s not happened a lot this season. Isles captain Anders Lee has generated 26 goals and 20 assists for the Islanders.
Both teams are struggling entering this one, but Edmonton gets by with more firepower.
Prediction: Oilers win 5-2.
Colorado Avalanche vs Calgary Flames
Head-to-Head: Avalanche 1-0 Flames
Time: 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: SN1; Altitude2; ESPN+
Our last game of NHL predictions has the Avalanche battling the Flames in a key Western Conference game. Colorado is expected to start Mackenzie Blackwood in goal for this one. The Avalanche are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games coming into this game. However, Colorado was defeated in its late game out. Cale Makar continues to build his Norris Trophy case with 24 goals and 51 assists for the Avalanche.
Rookie standout Dustin Wolf in projected to get the start in this game for the Flames, who are 4-2-4 in the last 10 games prior to this one. Calgary is in a fight for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot with it holding the last wild card spot in the West. Jonathan Huberdeau has 24 goals and 24 assists in a rebounding campaign for the Flames.
These two teams need points, but the Avalanche secure the road win.
Prediction: Avalanche win 4-3.
