The overwhelming consensus around the NFL world is that Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will be an Atlanta Falcon in 2022.
On Friday, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that the Falcons front office believes they have the “keys to the city” to complete a trade and would be “surprised” if Watson didn’t end up with the team sometime in the near future.
Watson and the Atlanta organization reportedly have “strong mutual interest.”
I’m told Falcons brass has ‘keys to the city’ to bring a trade home with Deshaun Watson & would be ‘surprised’ if that doesn’t occur based on strong mutual interest & conversations. Separately I expect Watson to receive new money in a restructured contract once any trade is done.

The Falcons, Saints, Panthers and Browns were all in the running to land Watson earlier this week. Carolina and Cleveland have since been dropped from consideration, leaving just Atalanta and New Orleans as his final two options.
Watson, who was born and raised in the Atlanta area, reportedly reached out to the Falcons front office earlier this offseason. They were reportedly the only team he personally reached out to before the trade negotiation process began.
With all signs pointing toward Watson joining the Falcons this coming season, the Atlanta organization will now have to figure out what to do with 14-year incumbent starter Matt Ryan.
