Earlier this offseason, the Green Bay Packers shocked the football world by trading star wide receiver Davante Adams.
Green Bay earned a first and second-round pick in the deal, one of which they used on Georgia linebacker Quay Walker during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night. Later in the night, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined the Pat McAfee Show to give his thoughts on the offseason so far.
“It was a little surprising with Davante — obviously when I made my decision, I was still thinking he was going to come back,” Rodgers said.
Here’s more of what he had to say, via ESPN:
“I was very honest with him about my plans and my future and where I saw my career going, as far as how many years I want to play. But I felt like he was going to be back, didn’t obviously turn out that way but I have so much love for ‘Tae and appreciate the time we spent together and definitely wish him the best in Derek [Carr] in Vegas. But that’s a big hole to fill.”
Rodgers – and Packers fan around the world – hoped the team would find Davante Adams’ replacement in the first round of the draft last night.
However, Green Bay opted to draft two Georgia defenders with their two first-round selections.
