Quarterback has been out with a broken thumb
As expected, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell is healthy enough to play Friday at the Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff is at noon PT.
O’Connell has been trending toward being able to play for the past several days. That became even more important when his injury replacement and Week 1 starter Gardner Minshew was lost for the rest of the season with a broken collarbone he suffered late in a 29-19 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The key for O’Connell was being able to grip the ball well and he had success in practice this week. He missed four games after breaking his thumb in Week 7 in a loss at the Los Angeles Rams.
Meanwhile, Pierce said Wednesday cornerbacks Jakorian Bennett (shoulder) and Nate Hobbs (ankle) and running back Zamir White (quad) will remain out Friday. Running back Alexander Mattison (ankle) will be questionable. Pierce said young running back Sincere McCormick will have a role Friday. He had 33 rushing yards against Denver.
Receiver Tre Tucker was limited for two straight days with a hip injury.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs will get two key players back Friday.
Isiah Pacheco and Charles Omenihu will play for the Chiefs on Friday against the Raiders as long as they don’t have any setbacks, Andy Reid said.
