There remains much uncertainty surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders and Davante Adams’s future. There seemed to be some sort of issue between the star receiver and head coach Antonio Pierce, with Adams reportedly requesting a trade last week.
Additionally, Adams has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury and will likely miss his third straight when the Raiders host the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. Due to that ongoing trade request, some may feel that Adams wouldn’t suit up even if he were healthy, but Pierce recently shut down that notion.
Pierce discussed Adams recently, saying that the two recently had a good conversation and that the Raiders will play him when he is healthy, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN:
“…the right head space, mentally. Like I said, we talked recently and had a good conversation and he’s ready to play football.” (end)

Pierce and Adams have at least had some discussions recently, which is a good development, as the Raiders coach hadn’t even spoken to the receiver after he liked an Instagram post suggesting he would be traded away. The idea of Adams milking this injury until he is traded would make sense in many instances, but that has never been the receiver’s style.
It is still possible that Adams played his last game in a Raiders uniform, as a trade could materialize very soon. The latest rumors suggest that the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are the four finalists to make a deal happen.
It’s anyone’s guess when a deal may happen, but Pierce has made it clear that when Adams is healthy, he will play, and the Raiders undoubtedly could use that weapon.
Raiders Will do What’s Best for the Franchise in Potential Davante Adams Trade
Adams reportedly has preferences regarding where he would like to be traded, with the Jets and Saints at the top of that list. It makes sense for him, as either move would reunite him with a former quarterback, but that doesn’t mean the Raiders are locked in only on those squads.
A recent report noted that the Raiders are open to dealing the star receiver to one of his preferred destinations but will ultimately do what’s best for the franchise. This is the best course of action for the Raiders as, while they would like to appease Adams, they must try and get the best return overall for a player of Adams’ stature.
