It appears the Baker Mayfield era in Cleveland may be coming to an end.
Amid a flurry of trade rumors on Tuesday night, the former No. 1 overall pick took to Twitter with what many interpreted as a farewell message to the Browns organization.
So, if Mayfield is on his way out of Cleveland, where will he land next?
The Browns are currently in pursuit of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, but the Houston organization reportedly doesn’t want Mayfield as part of the trade package.
According to Pro Football Network insider Tony Pauline, Browns’ general manager Andrew Berry has promised to work with Mayfield to help him find the landing spot of his choosing. And according to Pauline, the Indianapolis Colts are that preferred landing spot.
With the departure of Carson Wentz in a trade with the Washington Commanders, the Colts are in dire need of a starting quarterback option this coming season. Mayfield is reportedly attracted by the organization’s current playoff-ready roster and would certainly be an upgrade at the QB position in Indianapolis.
After an injury-ridden season packed with on and off-field drama, Mayfield could be all in for a fresh start with the Colts in 2022.
