Former New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead has made his free agency decision, signing a five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins.
$47.37 million of his new deal is guaranteed money, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Armstead spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career as a star left tackle for the Saints. The former third-round pick earned three straight Pro-Bowl selections from 2018-20 before injury issues side tracked his 2021 campaign.
Armstead was in and out of the Saints’ lineup this past season as he dealt with nagging knee issues. Though he missed the final four games of the 2021 and underwent surgery in January, the soon-to-be 31 year old is reportedly making solid progress and could return in time for training camp this year.
If Armstead is able to stay healthy throughout the 2022 season, he should be an excellent addition to a Miami front line that held the league’s worst pass-block rate (46.6%) and gave up 40 sacks this past season, per NFL Next Gen stats.
Nearly $13 million of Armstead’s former contract with New Orleans will count against the Saints’ salary cap in 2022.
