Raiders’ star could become an NFL first
Brock Bowers is on the brink of making NFL history.
The Associated Press announced all the five finalists for the major NFL awards. Bowers, the Las Vegas Raiders star tight end, was named a finalist for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The other finalists are Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Daniels is considered the heavy favorite to win the award, which is based solely on the regular season. All of the awards will be announced on the evening of February 6.

Bowers, record-breaking first-round pick, can become the first tight end to ever win the award. It would cap an incredible record-breaking season by the Georgia product who was the No. 13 overall draft pick.
Bowers finished the season with 112 catches for 1,194 yards. He set the NFL tight end rookie record for catches (86), receiving yards (1,076), overall receptions for a rookie (105) and the Raiders’ single-season reception record (107).
If Bowers wins the award, he’d join Marcus Allen (1982) as franchise winners of the award. Charles Woodson won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1998. Both Allen and Woodson are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
