The 2022 NFL Draft is officially in the past, opening the door for analysts and fans to unveil their power rankings for the upcoming season.
On Tuesday morning, CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco shared his latest power rankings heading into May. Unsurprisingly, teams such as the Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are at the top of the list.
On the flip side, the Atlanta Falcons are ranked as the No. 32 team in the league.
“The Falcons are basically tanking this year as they get out of cap hell,” Prisco wrote. “They don’t have a lot of talent, but they will have a ton of cap space next year to fix it.”
With the No. 8 pick in this year’s draft, the Falcons selected USC wide receiver Drake London. They’re hoping he’ll make an immediate impact like Kyle Pitts did in 2021.
The Falcons bolstered their defense with their second-round picks, selecting Penn State defensive end Arnold Ebiketie and Montana State linebacker Troy Andersen.
Perhaps the most intriguing pick the Falcons made last week came in the third round. With the 74th overall pick, the Falcons selected Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder.
On paper, the Falcons addressed a lot of areas of need during the NFL Draft. However, they don’t have a lot of proven talent on their roster at the moment.
After all, the Falcons lost Calvin Ridley to a lengthy suspension and traded Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts.
