The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2022 NFL draft without any glaring needs, which left the team open to plenty of possibilities with the No. 24 overall pick.
After watching most of the top wide receiver prospects come off the board early, wideout was ruled out by the time Dallas came on the clock. Most of the top pass rushers and corners were also off the board.
With no clear favorite, the Cowboys decided to roll with a player whose potential is a major talking point among NFL analysts. Dallas selected former Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith.
It didn’t take fans long to start reacting to the news.
“OK. O line was my preference but the way the board was falling I thought it’d be a defense pick. This is definitely need over value. Hope he works,” one fan said.

Others don’t seem to be as enthused with the pick.
“So instead of Dean or Johnson or Linderbaum we get another guy who can’t avoid false starts and holds. His upside better be tremendous,” one fan said.

“Don’t like it at all. Hope I’m wrong about this…” another fan said.

The Cowboys have a history of drafting elite offensive linemen.
Perhaps they landed another tonight.
