The Dallas Cowboys drafted Ole Miss pass rusher Sam Williams in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas.
Williams, a prominent pass rusher, was suspended from Ole Miss in 2020 after getting charged with sexual battery. However, the charges were later dropped and he was reinstated to the team.
This weekend, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the allegations against his second round NFL Draft pick.
Jones said the team thoroughly investigated the allegations and feel comfortable with the pick.
“A pass rusher is a premium. A pressure player is a premium,” Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “First and foremost, he’s a terrific player and a potential terrific pro as a player. He has a lot of energy, a lot of personality. We think that is a real positive for his play as well as the people around him. He brings a lot to the table. We thoroughly investigated those allegations and are completely satisfied that those are well within our comfort level.”
The Cowboys are in need of some help at pass rusher following the loss of Randy Gregory to the Denver Broncos.
