Just as the NFL’s offseason quarterback soap operas seemed close to concluding, tensions flared between the Cleveland Browns and Baker Mayfield.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the quarterback requested a trade Thursday. Although the team wanted to mend the relationship after its unsuccessful pursuit of Deshaun Watson, Mayfield reportedly believes the “bridge is burned and it’s time to move on now.”
Where will he go next? ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky played a matching game with Mayfield and other quarterbacks who could change teams.
My gut I guess as of now???
Watson to ATL
Ryan to Indy
Baker to Hou
Jameis to NOBrowns left to Jimmy G?

Watson has apparently narrowed down his decision to the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints, per Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson.
Once the Houston Texans trade him, the rest of the market should see more movement. That includes Matt Ryan, if Watson goes to Atlanta.
However, Mayfield to the Texans is one prediction Orlovsky may not get right. Earlier in the week, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported that the Browns weren’t including their quarterback in offers for Watson.
Baker Mayfield won’t be part of the #Browns offer for #Texans Deshaun Watson, but he could be gone even if the trade doesn’t happen https://t.co/ODcQ3BAqWx

One would imagine they would have offered Mayfield as a replacement if the Texans wanted him. They may give Davis Mills a chance to maintain the job or draft a future starter.
Per Kay Cabot and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Browns don’t plan on honoring Mayfield’s trade request. However, that could be damage control so other teams don’t think they’ll accept any half-decent offer for the former top pick.
Outside of the Texans, Saints, and Indianapolis Colts, the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers could also be in the market for a quarterback. Beyond the five quarterbacks Orlovsky mentioned, someone could also roll the dice on Marcus Mariota.
Let’s face it, nobody has any idea what’s happening with NFL quarterbacks anymore.
