Late Friday night, the college football world learned that the reigning Biletnikoff winner might be transferring.
Jordan Addison, the top wide receiver in college football, is reportedly considering a transfer away from Pitt. Per Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Addison is “seriously considering” a move to USC.
After the news broke, several other programs reportedly entered the running as well. Addison is expected to ink a major name, image and likeness deal with his new team – which has some fans furious.
Count college football analyst Danny Kanell among them. On Friday night, Kanell made it clear the new NIL rules are “awful for college football” as they’re currently laid out.
“Jordan Addison is most likely going to USC to take the $$$ that USC and Lincoln are bringing to the table,” he said on Twitter. “This is AWFUL for CFB. I’m all for NIL but there has to be some protection/regulation/opportunity for Pitt to match the offer and keep the player they developed.”

Addison had an incredible sophomore season at Pitt, racking up 100 receptions for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Now he’s looking to cash in with a massive deal. As the rules currently exist, he’s well within his rights to do so.
However, some college football fans like Danny Kanell don’t think the current rules are fair. Perhaps this will be part of the reason for change within the sport.
