Without a doubt, one of the biggest stories to come from college football in many years was Deion Sanders’ journey in his first season as head coach at the University of Colorado. Despite the ups and downs, Sanders has some talented players, one of whom, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, may be particularly interesting to the Las Vegas Raiders come the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur, of course, is the son of Deion Sanders. He had an excellent year at Colorado, completing 69.3% of his passes for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He is considered by most to be one of the top quarterback prospects in next year’s draft and could be an ideal fit for the Raiders.
Deion certainly wouldn’t mind that as he was asked about the possibility of Shedeur being drafted by the Raiders and the Hall of Famer loved the idea, via Vegas Sports Today:
Deion Sanders loving the idea of his sons playing for the Raiders and Antonio Pierce:
“That would be nice for [Shedeur & Shilo] to play for the Raiders. I’m meeting with the team today.”

The Raiders’ quarterback position remains a question mark as they head into the 2024 season. Second-year man Aidan O’Connell and veteran Gardner Minshew II are battling for the starting job this year, but it is unclear whether either is truly the franchise quarterback this team needs.
Shedeur Sanders could very well be the player the Raiders are looking for. He has a ton of tools to work with, and the Raiders have a lot of talented skill-position players who could make life easier. So, if the Raiders come out of this season still not certain about quarterback, they very well could be eyeing Shedeur.
Deion’s other son, Shilo Sanders, a safety at Colorado, will also be draft eligible, so the Raiders will have multiple opportunities to bring in one of Deion Sanders’ kids if they feel the fit is right.
Alexander Mattison: Raiders QB competition between Aidan O’Connell & Gardner Minshew a ‘battle’
The Raiders aren’t focused on the 2025 NFL Draft just yet, and there remains a possibility that their franchise quarterback is already in silver and black. Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew are battling for that job and running back Alexander Mattison has been impressed with the competition so far.
Mattison called the competition ‘a battle’ while adding that both have looked great so far and calling both of them ‘playmakers.’
