Former NFL coach June Jones isn’t sold one of the draft-eligible quarterbacks that are set to be picked during this week’s NFL Draft.
Jones thinks most of this year’s quarterback class are “wait-and-see” players but he left North Carolina’s Sam Howell off that list.
“I’m not high on (Sam Howell) from North Carolina,” Jones told Fox News. “But (Kenny) Pickett I think has enough throwing ability and has been in a passing offense. I think he may be able to jump up in there and get a chance anyway to play early.”
Howell currently has a second-round draft grade from most pundits and may not be a franchise quarterback for a team.
He spent three seasons with the Tar Heels and had 3,000+ passing yards in each one.
His best season came in 2019 as a freshman when he finished with 3,641 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.
Time will tell if Howell can prove Jones wrong throughout his NFL career.
