Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Ja Morant will remain sidelined for two weeks with a knee injury.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the team will then re-evaluate their superstar guard. That timetable could take him out of action for Memphis’ final nine games of the regular season.

It’d make a disappointing end to a phenomenal season for Morant, who is averaging 27.6 points and 6.7 assists per game for the 50-23 Grizzlies. However, getting the 22-year-old healthy and ready for the playoffs should be their top priority.
Even with Morant sidelined the last two games, Memphis has kept rolling. The Grizzlies blew out the Houston Rockets on the road before earning a 132-120 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
As noted by StatMuse, the Grizzlies are somehow 15-2 with their best player off the court. Morant doesn’t mind one bit.
WE NICE!!!!! PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY TEAMMATES 🔥💯 https://t.co/2JPeGc5a3d

It’s a testament to the team’s depth and more reason not to rush back the 2019 No. 2 pick. With the Golden State Warriors also losing Stephen Curry indefinitely, the Grizzlies can still preserve the Western Conference’s second seed.
Morant has made Memphis appointment viewing, so hopefully the explosive young guard can come back strong for the postseason.
