The Raiders shocked the NFL world on Thursday night, acquiring star wideout Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Packers.
Las Vegas wasted no time showing its commitment to Adams, signing him to a new contract worth $141.25 million over the next five years.
According to Hondo Carpenter of Raider Maven, the main reason Adams wanted to play for the Raiders was so he could join forces with Derek Carr. They’re considered “brothers,” on and off the field.
Adams and Carr were teammates together at Fresno State, where they had a lot of success before going their separate ways in the NFL.
Carpenter was told by people close to the situation prior to this trade that Adams would pick Las Vegas and Derek Carr over staying in Green Bay. He also said Carr would take less money than expected for his next deal if the Raiders could find a way to acquire Adams.

The Raiders still have more work to do before they can be considered the favorites in the AFC, but make no mistake, the front office is making great moves this offseason.
Over the past few days alone, Las Vegas has added Davante Adams, Chandler Jones and Rock-Ya Sin to its roster. That’s an impressive haul.
