St. Louis Cardinals fans are probably holding their breath as they await word on the health of standout right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty.
Flaherty, who missed time last season with an oblique strain and right shoulder strain, was held out of spring training again on Tuesday. He also underwent a medical evaluation of his throwing shoulder.
The Cardinals have yet to announce an update or plan of action for Flaherty.

A first-round draft pick of the Cardinals in 2014, Flaherty made his MLB debut three years later. When the 26-year-old did pitch in 2021, he was brilliant.
In 17 appearances (15 starts), Flaherty pitched to a 9-2 record with a 3.22 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 85 strikeouts in 78.1 innings. It was a welcome bounce-back from his 2020 campaign, when he posted a 4.91 ERA in nine starts during the COVID-shortened season.
St. Louis finished 90-72 in 2021, losing the NL Wild Card to the defending world champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
