After seeing head coach Mike White leave to become the head coach at arch-rival Georgia, the Florida Gators basketball team will now have to deal with losing star guard Keyontae Johnson.
According to 247Sports, Johnson has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson has barely played at all since suffering a scary collapse on the court in December 2020. He was also recently accused of sexual assault.
Johnson has averaged 11 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in his career. But that aforementioned collapse put his playing career on hold for the better part of two years. He appeared in only one game this past season as an honorary captain for the Gators.
It’s possible that the departure of Mike White is prompting Johnson to leave ahead of his fifth year. Whatever the case may be, when he finally does return to the court it will cap off an incredible comeback.

After Keyontae Johnson collapsed against the Florida State Seminoles in 2020, he reportedly had to be placed into a medically-induced coma. With a few weeks, he was back on his feet – but he couldn’t rejoin the team as a player.
Johnson was recently accused of sexual assault.

Mike White brought him on as a coach for the rest of the 2020-21 season. But Johnson did not play in the 2021-22 season until Senior Day against Kentucky, where he played one minute as an honorary captain.
Johnson must now believe that he’s ready to resume his career as a player.
Where do you think Keyontae Johnson should go via the transfer portal?
