The NFL culminated its 2022 draft, which saw 262 players realize a dream of going pro. One of them had his moment dampened a tad by a typo on ESPN’s broadcast.
With the 232nd overall pick in the seventh round, the Denver Broncos selected Wisconsin cornerback Faion Hicks. Unfortunately, ESPN’s chyron mistakenly referred to him as “Falon.”
Saturday Tradition’s Dustin Schutte captured evidence of the Worldwide Leader’s mishap.

Hicks laughed off the typo on Twitter.
Damn, they really got my name wrong 😂 https://t.co/QCp37hlrTG

The NFL Draft is a hectic, three-day bonanza, so one human error is understandable. A capital “I” can often look like a lowercase “l”. In fact, his Sports Reference player page makes the same mistake.
Hicks played 39 games across four seasons with the Badgers, tallying 107 tackles and 16 passes defended. He’ll become the first-ever NFL player with the first name “Faion” while fighting for a roster spot this summer.
Hopefully Faion Hicks still enjoyed the major milestone on Saturday.
