After 10 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, star defensive lineman Fletcher Cox is hitting free agency for the first time. And he already has one former teammate trying to recruit him to a new team.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz gave Cox a shoutout. He asked Cox to join him in Arizona.
“Come on out to the desert big dog,” Ertz tweeted, tagging Cox in the tweet. His message already has over 1,600 retweets and 400 retweets in less than an hour.
Ertz and Cox were teammates on the Eagles from 2013 (Ertz’s first season) until Ertz was traded to Arizona during the 2021 season. Together the two won a Super Bowl and even played in three Pro Bowls together.

Fletcher Cox will probably be in high demand as NFL free agency kicks into high gear. He’s a six-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro selection.
In 10 NFL seasons, Cox has 58.0 sacks, 443 tackles, 78 tackles for loss and 142 QB hits. He also has 14 passes defended, 14 forced fumbles 12 fumble recoveries and three defensive touchdowns.
Cox is still playing at a pretty high level too. Whoever signs Cox can potentially get a ton of extra production out of him over the next few years.
The Arizona Cardinals could certainly use Cox’s services. While their defense ranked a respectable 11th last year, they went just 3-7 when allowing over 21 points.
Will Fletcher Cox be joining the Cardinals?
