The Golden State Warriors rallied to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in the first game of their playoff series this afternoon despite losing Draymond Green to an ejection.
Green was assessed a Flagrant 2 and tossed from the game during the second quarter of Sunday’s 117-116 win. The four-time All-Star grabbed the Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke’s jersey as he went up for a layup.
Green had actually swiped Clarke across the face before he grabbed his jersey, but he also appeared to try to brace the young forward’s fall. The ESPN broadcast argued Green should only have been hit with a Flagrant 1.

After the game, Clarke was pretty blunt in his assessment of the play, saying it was “not shocking” that Green fouled him flagrantly.
“He’s been known for flagrant fouls in his career,” Clarke said. “I’ve watched him on TV my whole life it feels like. I wasn’t really shocked.”
