When former LSU five-star big man Efton Reid put his name in the transfer portal, he instantly skied to the top of many program’s boards. On Sunday, the gifted seven-footer announced his decision to leave the Tigers in favor of the Bulldogs.
Reid is taking his talents to Gonzaga.
Gonzaga has landed LSU transfer Efton Reid, he announced. Skilled big man.

The Virginia-native decided to transfer just weeks after Will Wade was fired from LSU. Reid only had averages of 6.3 points, 4.3 boards and less than a block a game. Granted, he only averaged about 20 minutes per across his 34 games.
But, with added size, many scouts believe he has NBA potential.

⁰The Numbers: 6.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 25% 3-pointers (5-20)
⁰The Scout: “Extremely skilled for his size. Needs to get stronger, but has NBA potential due to his size and skill level. Below-the-rim athlete.” https://t.co/AOEVB84Ujp— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) May 1, 2022
This is obviously a huge get for Mark Few‘s program. Landing Reid keeps them squarely in that national championship conversation.
Efton Reid was the No. 3-ranked center in the 2021 class, and he should only get better with time. Especially considering Gonzaga’s history of developing big men (i.e. Drew Timme and Chet Holmgren).
This is a notable loss for an LSU program in transition.
