The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford agreed to a lucrative contract extension this Saturday.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s effectively a 3-year extension worth $129 million. There are void years added to the deal to spread out the cap hit, which in return will allow the Rams to spend money on other players.
In fact, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes Stafford’s deal will help the Rams complete an extension with Aaron Donald.
“With Stafford contract done, Rams will push to complete Aaron Donald’s deal,” Fowler said. “There has been progress.”

As for Stafford’s new deal, the majority of the NFL world approves of it for both parties.
“Making room for either an edge rusher or a left tackle most likely,” Tyler Forness of NBC Sports EDGE said. “Good for Stafford and better for the Rams.”
