The Las Vegas Raiders came plummeting back down to earth in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, falling 34-18 on the road in a game that started strong before things got completely out of control. Star defensive end Maxx Crosby did suit up after missing last week and recorded two sacks, but he was one of the few bright spots this Sunday.
There was a lot of discussion about the Raiders this week, and while much of it centered around receiver Davante Adams, there was some talk about Crosby, too. Some wondered whether Crosby’s loyalty to the Raiders was waning despite him missing his first career game, and that did not sit well with the star defensive end.
Crosby called out those questioning him, making it very clear that he doesn’t appreciate anyone speaking for him and that he doesn’t want to be anywhere else aside from the Raiders, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN:
“I take a lot of heat and I could do it … I’ve been through that,” he said. “But don’t speak about me when you don’t know what’s going on and you’re speaking for me … or speaking about the organization, ‘Oh, something must be going on with Maxx.’
“Come on bro, you know where I want to be. You think I want to be anywhere else? No. I got this s— tatted on my body. I don’t want to go anywhere.” Crosby showed a tattoo of the Raiders logo on his right elbow.
“It is just funny,” he said. “You’ve got a lot of people that have a lot to say when they really don’t know what’s going on.”
Crosby’s passion for this organization can never be questioned, and people having something to say about that was unacceptable to him. As he said, he has the organization tattooed on his body, so there should be no question where his loyalties lie.
Of course, the biggest talking point throughout the week had to do with Davante Adams, and even though it looks as if the receiver’s time with the franchise is coming to an end, Crosby has nothing but love for his Raiders teammate:
“Davante’s my boy, and I love Davante, and he’s going to do what he’s going to do,” Crosby said. “Praying for him, wish him the best. He’s not healthy right now. He’s got to get healthy. But we’re focused on the Raiders. … We’re focused on who’s here now. We’re focused on winning. So we’ve got to find ways to do that.”
Throughout it all, Crosby remains focused on the Raiders and bringing success to this franchise. That didn’t happen on Sunday in Denver as Patrick Surtain II’s 100-yard interception return completely turned the tide of the game, but rest assured Crosby will be back in the building putting in all of the necessary work to get the Raiders back on track.
Maxx Crosby is used to drama surrounding Raiders
Maxx Crosby had a lot to say following the Raiders’ loss on Sunday, which came at the end of a week full of drama surrounding the franchise as a whole. But this is nothing new for Crosby.
Crosby noted with a laugh that he is used to drama and things of this nature going on, adding that he’s been dealing with this his whole career and that “it is what it is.”
