Recently, it has become a trend for former players to go back to their college programs in a general-manger role as part of the new college football world that is controlled by NIL money. Yet, Crosby is the first active NFL player to take on a role at his college. There are some NBA players in the role.
The Raiders drafted Crosby out of Eastern Michigan in the fourth round in 2019 and he’s become one of the best players in the NFL regardless of position. Crosby has remained close to the Eastern Michigan athletic department and he and his wife, Rachel (who played soccer at the school) have often donated to the school.

This is a fun, unique opportunity for the Crosbys to continue to be part of the program at Eastern Michigan. But don’t be concerned that this role will keep Crosby, who just signed a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension, will take away from his duties with the Raiders. Likely much of his work for Eastern Michigan will be done in the offseason.
