Cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott expects big things out of Michael Gallup in the years to come.
The Cowboys chose Gallup over Amari Cooper and gave him the big contract to prove it. Gallup signed a five-year deal worth up to $62.5 million earlier this week. Cooper, meanwhile, was traded to Cleveland.
With a new contract in hand, priority No. 1 for Gallup is to get healthy. That’s exactly what Prescott told him after signing his new contract.
“Dak to Gallup: ‘Get that (knee) right so we can get to work,’” he said, via Jon Machota.
Michael Gallup said Dak Prescott came into the training room and gave Gallup a hug after the deal was done.
Gallup: “Dak knew I was going to be here for the long haul. That man has had faith in me since Day 1.”

The Cowboys are well aware the 2021 season was a challenge for Michael Gallup due to injuries. They acknowledged it in their press release.
“The 2021 season was filled with injury challenges,” the Cowboys said. “Gallup missed seven games with a calf injury. After returning for eight games, he tore the ACL in his left knee on a jump-ball touchdown catch against the Arizona Cardinals on Jan. 2.
“Gallup underwent surgery in early February, and clearly the Cowboys feel good about his outlook for the 2022 season and beyond.”
Michael Gallup has big shoes to fill in Amari Cooper’s absence. He and CeeDee Lamb will be heavily relied on this upcoming season.
Did the Cowboys make the right decision by paying Michael Gallup and trading Amari Cooper?
