Brennan Carroll coached on his father’s staffs at both USC and at with the Seattle Seahawks. His last role in Seattle was as run-game coordinator. He was the assistant offensive lien coach from 2015-19. He has no other NFL experience.
He was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in the college ranks, at Arizona and Washington, where he coached in 2024.
There were reports Carroll could bring Cable onto the staff as offensive line coach, but if he does join the staff, it appears it will be in another role.
Last week, when he was introduced as the Raiders’ new head coach, Carroll said his 2025 staff would be a combination of former assistants from his 14-season stint as the coach of the Seattle Seahawks, spanning 2010-23, coaches from elsewhere and holdovers from the staff of the fired Antonio Pierce in Las Vegas.
That is what has been happening.
In two of his three biggest hires, Carroll has kept holdovers as he retained defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and special teams coach Tom McMahon. They are both working with their third head coach and are entering their fourth season in Las Vegas. Saturday night, another former Pierce assistant, defensive line coach Rob Leonard was retained. There has been speculation cornerbacks coach Ricky Manning Jr. could return as well.
Carroll has brought in linebackers coach John Glenn and vice president of coaching operations Matt Capurro from his Seattle days.
Sunday, Carroll hired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. This will be the first time they have worked together.
Carroll may not be done adding his sons to his staff. His son, Nate Carroll, was recently fired as the passing-game coordinator of the Carolina Panthers and he was previously on Carroll’s staff in Seattle.
Coaches hiring their sons is pretty routine around the NFL. Pierce had his son, DeAndre Pierce, on his staff in 2024.
