Just over a week ago, the Seattle Seahawks shocked the football world by trading superstar quarterback Russell Wilson.
Seattle shipped Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a package of picks and young talent. The Seahawks landed former first-round pick Drew Lock, who seems to be in line to be the team’s starting quarterback.
One of Lock’s top weapons in Seattle will be star wide receiver DK Metcalf. But will Metcalf stick around if he knows the team can’t be competitive moving forward?
That’s a question head coach Pete Carroll answered on Tuesday night. When asked about a contract extension for Metcalf before the 2022 season kicks off, Carroll made it clear the team will do “everything” it takes to get that deal done.
“It’s really important to us,” Carroll said about Metcalf. “We love him. He maybe will go down as one of the great draft picks we’ve ever had here. We are going to do everything we can to get it done.”

After setting historic marks at the 2019 NFL combine, it seemed like Metcalf would be one of the top picks in the draft. However, he slid into the second round where the Seahawks scooped him up.
In three seasons with the team, the former Ole Miss star has racked up 216 receptions for 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns.
