Candidate has history with key player
The Las Vegas Raiders have started to request interviews for the coaching opening left by the firing of Antonio Pierce. One of the coaches they’ve requested to talk to is Todd Monken.
Let’s get to know him some more:
Current job:
He is the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, a position he has held since 2023 and quarterback Lamar Jackson has flourished under him.
Age:
58.
Coaching experience:
Monken has coached for 11 seasons including six as an offensive coordinator. He was a head coach at Southern Mississippi from 2013-15 where he greatly improved the program.
Other interest:
The Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars also have requested to interview Monken.
Why the Raiders are interested:
He is a proven, successful NFL offensive coach. Plus, he was with Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers as his offensive coordinator for two seasons. A bonus: He coached draft prospect Carson Beck and getting Beck in the mid rounds as a developmental prospect could interest Monken,
