Lions defensive coordinator interviews Friday
The Las Vegas Raiders have started to request interviews for the coaching opening left by the firing of Antonio Pierce. They have requested to talk to five candidates so far: Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson, Steve Spagnuolo, Todd Monken and Robert Saleh.
Let’s get to know Glenn some more as he is set to interview Friday:
Current job:
He is the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, a position he has held since 2021.
Age:
52.
Coaching experience:
He has been an NFL coach for 11 seasons.
Playing experience:
Glenn was a cornerback in the NFL for 15 seasons. He was a first-round pick of the New York Jets in 1994 and played there for eight seasons. The Texas A&M product also played for Houston, Dallas, Jacksonville and New Orleans.
Other interest:
He is interviewing with Chicago, the Jets, Jacksonville and New Orleans. He played for every team but the Bears. Glenn declined an interview with New England.
Why the Raiders are interested:
He has done a great job on a defense ravaged by injuries. He has served several roles in the NFL and is highly respected.
