Pete Carroll brings in right-hand man
The Las Vegas Raiders have hired Pete Carroll as their new head coach. He is building his new staff. He has reportedly hired Matt Capurro as a vice president of coaching operations.
Seahawks VP of coaching operations Matt Capurro is leaving the team after 15 years to reunite with Pete Carroll and rejoin the Raiders. Was with Carroll at USC in 2009 and in Seattle from ’10-23, and worked for Al Davis in Oakland from ’04-08.

Let’s get to know Capurro better:
Last job:
He was the vice president of coaching operations for the Seattle Seahawks from 2010-24.
Experience with Carroll:
Carroll brought Capurro to Seattle after Capurro had a similar role for Carroll at USC in 2009.
Raiders’ experience:
Capurro, a Bay Area native, has Silver and Black in his blood. He was a football operations intern from 1998-2003. Spanning 2004-08, Capurro was the assistant to the head coach for multiple coaches.
What’s his duties:
Capurro is not a coach per se, but he’s a valuable part of the staff. He operates the daily schedule for the head coach and the staff and plans year-round scheduling. The program starts with Capurro.
Why the Raiders would hire him:
His history with both Carroll and the Raiders made this a slam-dunk hire for all involved.
