Monday, when he was introduced as the Raiders coach, Carroll said he envisioned that his staff would be a combination of former assistants of during his 14-season tenure as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, coaches from elsewhere and holdovers from Antonio Pierce’s Raiders’ staff.
This will be the third head coach that McMahon, 55, will assist in Las Vegas. He was hired by Josh McDaniels in 2022 and Pierce retained him in 2024. McMahon has been an NFL special teams coach since 2009.
The Raiders’ special teams units had some issues in 2024, but it features standout punter A.J. Cole and kicker Daniel Carlson.
Expect to Carroll to quickly continue to add to the coaching staff. He has already interviewed Darrell Bevell, who worked for him in Seattle, for the offensive coordinator job. Karl Scott, who worked for Carroll in Seattle, and Pierce holdovers Patrick Graham and Rob Leonard are candidates for the special teams job.
