Fan base approves
This can be a difficult fan base to please at times.
But the Las Vegas Raiders and Geno Smith have managed to make the vast majority of our community happy when they came to terms on a contract extension recently.
We asked our readers if they were pleased with the deal and the results were overwhelming as fans were very much in favor of it.
In a poll with 750 votes cast, 655 voters (87 percent) were in favor of the extension, while just 95 voters (13 percent) aren’t into Smith, who was traded to Las Vegas from the Seattle Seahawks alst month, being the Raiders’ new starting quarterback.
I totally get why fans are in favor of this deal and they should be. It’s a good one for the team as the two-year extension is worth up to $85.5 million and will keep Smith, who will turn 35 in October, in Las Vegas through the 2027 season. He is making $40 million this season, so the deal is for three years worth $116.5 million.
Smith is a solid player and it’s a good deal, so, yes, be happy.
