Pete Carroll could look to reunite with defensive star
That makes a lot of sense, but Wilson may not be the only longtime star who would reunite with Carroll in Las Vegas.
How about linebacker Bobby Wagner?
Wagner played for Carroll in Seattle from 2012-21 and in ‘23. The two are close and Wagner is a likely Pro Football Hall of Fame player. Wagner is still playing at a high level as he was a standout for the Washington Commanders, and his former Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, while playing on a one-year deal in 2024.
Raiders’ middle linebacker Robert Spillane is a free agent. If he leaves or if the Raiders opt for Wagner on a shorter, cheaper deal, this could happen.
The Raiders could see Wagner, who turns 35 in June, as a part player to help Carroll spread his vision to a defense that will also likely have lot of holdovers with Patrick Graham staying around as the defensive coordinator.
There’s some ifs involved here like if Wagner wants to leave Washington, if the Raiders don’t re-sign Spillane. But this pairing could make some sense if things fall into place.
