Chiefs’ running back has ties to Las Vegas’ staff
The Las Vegas Raiders could use a veteran running back on the 2025 roster.
Kansas City Chiefs’ veteran running back Kareem Hunt is a free agent.
Hunt has ties to the new Las Vegas coaching staff.
New Raiders head coach Pete Carroll hired Deland McCollough from Notre Dame to coach the team’s offensive backfield. McCollough coached the Kansas City Chiefs’ running backs from 2018-20. McCollough was Hunt’ position coach in 2018.
Often, teams go after free agents who have ties to the coaching staff from previous stops. So, the familiarity between Hunt and the McCollough coupled with the team’s need at the position makes this potential pairing a real possibility.
Hunt, who turn 30 in August, and he he seems to still have some thread left on tires. Hunter had 728 yards and seven touchdown on the ground during the regular season in 2024.
He may not be a bell-cow back, but he could probably still help the Raiders in 2025.
