Are the Raiders set with edge rushers?
The Las Vegas Raiders defensive end position has had some changes. Here is a look at where the position stands a week-plus into free agency:
New free agent added:
None.
Free agent who departed:
K’Lavon Chaisson (New England Patriots).
Current free agents:
Jaranius Robinson.
Free agents retained:
Malcolm Koonce (unrestricted), Charles Snowden (exclusive rights), Maxx Crosby (2027 free agent extended).
Returners:
Crosby, Koonce, Tyree Wilson, Snowden, Andre Carter
Draft:
Teams are always looking for edge rushers, so it could happen at any time in the draft if the Raiders’ brass falls in love with a certain pass-rusher. But with other more pressing needs, I could see the Raiders maybe striking here on a project with one of their six Day Three picks, which includes three selections in the sixth round.
Conclusion:
The Raiders wanted Koonce back. Chaisson was a nice player, but he wasn’t a priority. The key is Crosby and Koonce staying healthy and Wilson, the Np. 7 overall draft pick in 2023, to make strides.
