The search for Tom Telesco’s replacement has begun
The Las Vegas Raiders have begun the process of finding a replacement for fired general manager Tom Telesco. Let’s take a look where things currently stand during an extremely fluid situation:
Reported interview requests:
- John Spytek
- Jon-Eric Sullivan
Thoughts: There will be more candidates for this job and the Raiders will have to comply by the Rooney Rule. The Raiders have already interviewed or requested interviews with seven head-coaching candidates. There could easily be more coaching candidates. Expect some of the general-manager candidates to have connections with some of the existing candidates for new candidates. One of the reasons why Telesco was fired was to attract a new general manager to coaching candidates, so there will likely be some synergy in the searches.
Summary: This is just getting started. Yes, there may be some early favorite as such Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson for the coaching hire and Spytek, who has long ties to Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady. But expect these processes to take time.
