The Raider Nation approves
The Las Vegas Raiders recently hired John Spytek as their new general manager, replacing the fired Tom Telesco.
Spytek, who is 44 years old, was considered a key part of a successful Tampa Bay front office. He has a reputation as a strong scouting eye who is a good team player and he is known as a calm decision maker.
Spytek has won Super Bowl rings while with both the Buccaneers and the Denver Broncos.
Spytek, who was one of six candidates that the Raiders interviewed for the job, was long considered the favorite to land in Las Vegas. He was college teammates with Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady at Michigan in 1999 and they were together in Tampa Bay.
We asked our community member how they felt about the Spytek hire and the response was overwhelming.
In a poll with 1,886 votes cast, 1,371 voters (73) approved on the Spytek hire, while 515 voters (27 percent) stated they were skeptical of the hire.
Time will tell of Spytek was the right choice, but it’s clear the fan base approved of the decision to hire him.
