There is no arguing the point that Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers had outstanding chemistry together as teammates on the Green Bay Packers. Since being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders however, Adams has proven that he doesn’t need Rodgers to be successful, still showing himself to be one of the truly elite wide receivers the NFL has to offer.
But that has not stopped the rumors from popping up, especially as the Raiders have failed to make the playoffs in Adams’ two seasons with the franchise. Adams has regularly said that he has no desire to leave the Raiders, but things got even more interesting when it was reported earlier this offseason that Rodgers, now with the New York Jets, had been recruiting Adams to reunite there.
And Adams recently revealed in an appearance on the Up and Adams Show that Rodgers has still been in his ear before reiterating that he is happy with the Raiders, via Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports:
“He’s in the ear,” Adams admitted. “But it’s not as easy. Obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that, but like I said, I’m a Raider and he knows that.”
But that didn’t prevent Rodgers from throwing some more fuel on the flame as he said he can’t wait to play with his former teammate once again, ahead of taking part in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament:
“I love Davante,” Rodgers said Thursday at the American Century Championship. “I can’t wait to play with him … again.”
This will surely get a lot of buzz, as a Rodgers-Adams reunion has been discussed for so long, but in all honesty, this is likely just Rodgers stirring the pot. If one were to lean into this, however, it should be noted that Rodgers didn’t say where he and Adams could come together again, meaning a trade to the Raiders could be something Rodgers may consider.
Currently, the Raiders have Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew II battling for the starting quarterback position, but if things don’t work out, who knows what could happen in the future.
Davante Adams ‘loves’ Aidan O’Connell acting as Raiders starting quarterback
While rumors surrounding Aaron Rodgers likely won’t end anytime soon, Davante Adams seems happy with the Raiders’ current quarterback situation. Last season, he spoke highly of then-rookie Aidan O’Connell, and he is apparently still in his corner.
A recent report stated that O’Connell is acting like the Raiders starting quarterback, adding that Adams ‘loves’ him which may be a good thing in this battle with Minshew. Whether that will ultimately lead to O’Connell winning the job is unclear, but it certainly seems that Adams has his favorite.
