The Las Vegas Raiders franchise has struggled for the last twenty years, making just two playoff appearances since 2003. Coming off the end of last season, there seemed to be a bit of optimism and momentum behind the franchise, but through five weeks, things have not gone their way, and franchise legend Charles Woodson is tired of it.
Following a big victory in Week 4, it felt like the Raiders had a chance to turn the corner, but instead, they would experience the worst week possible. All the attention was centered on receiver Davante Adams, an issue with head coach Antonio Pierce, and a reported trade request seemingly signaling an end to his time with the franchise.
That culminated in a 34-18 drubbing at the hands of the division rival Denver Broncos, and in an appearance on the NFL on Fox Sports 1, Woodson wondered why the Raiders simply can’t have nice things:

As Woodson noted, there has been a trend of the team getting talented players but, for some reason, not being able to keep them around, as was the case with Khalil Mack. Some could even point back to Randy Moss and now with Adams. Likewise, the failure to get that franchise quarterback has been an issue for some time. Woodson mentioned CJ Stroud, but the Raiders were also known to have an interest in Jayden Daniels and could not move up to get him in the 2024 NFL Draft.
These issues ultimately result in a lack of success on the field, which has plagued this franchise for two decades now. Things all start at the top, and the Raiders must figure out how to get things back on track and return this franchise to glory. Woodson likely isn’t the only legend concerned with how things are going, but he is the first to speak on it, and hopefully, there aren’t many more to come.
Maxx Crosby reiterates Desire to Remain with Raiders
While Davante Adams seems to be on his way out, the Raiders’ other superstar made it clear that he has no interest in going anywhere.
Following the Raiders loss in Denver, Crosby sounded off on those who suggested he might have issues with the franchise and could also be looking to get out. The star defensive end pointed to the Raiders logo tattooed on his elbow as proof that he has no plans on going anywhere despite the dysfunction the team is going through right now.
