The Las Vegas Raiders did well to add to their roster in the offseason and could be a sneaky team to watch out for in the AFC during the 2024 season.
Head coach Antonio Pierce will be looking to build on the momentum he established when he took over the sidelines in 2023, and general manager Tom Telesco gave him more talent on both sides of the field. The team made a splash in free agency when they landed star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, but they also got a solid quarterback in Gardner Minshew who will compete with Aidan O’Connell for the starting job. They also used the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to take Brock Bowers who was widely considered the best tight end in his draft class.
With all the new additions to the squad, it’s easy to get excited about their potential but it would be important not to forget who was already on the team. Davante Adams may have had a relatively down year last season, but he’ll be back in the fold and should have a stronger showing with improved quarterback play.
Although training camp is a month away, Adams is already feeling confident with this group and went so far as to say that they’ve got strong and competitive pieces via Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee:
#Raiders‘ Davante Adams: “It’s no secret we got some dangerous weapons on the team, as a whole. Not to mention offense. Guys stay at it, keep learning and keep getting better and pushing each other. A lot of competition right now and that’s what’s going to make everyone better.”

The vibe around OTAs has been positive and upbeat, and it seems that Adams likes what he’s seeing from his teammates so far. Las Vegas isn’t being talked about with the rest of the conference, though there’s little reason to doubt that they’ll be at least competitive against the projected playoff teams.
With Pierce at the helm and a roster full of hungry players, the Silver and Black could end up making some noise come postseason time.
Michael Mayer believes Raiders offense will be prolific in 2024
The Bowers pick was a little surprising given that the Raiders spent a second-round pick the draft prior on Michael Mayer. However, Mayer is excited to line up alongside Bowers and believes that Las Vegas’s offense will be prolific in 2024.
