The 2024 season is nearly here as training camp is set to start next week, meaning the silver and black faithful will get to see the Las Vegas Raiders back on the field shortly.
The starting quarterback competition between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew is the biggest question mark for the summer, but there is also the case of Davante Adams, who’s been subject to trade rumors, although his agents recently came out and shut any sort of reporting about him being in the discussion down.
Adams has been great for the Raiders, though it hasn’t quite translated into wins yet though the hope is new head coach Antonio Pierce can fix that. Adams hasn’t requested to be dealt with and appears set to stay with the franchise for the foreseeable future.
In the meantime, Adams seems to be enjoying what’s left of his offseason as he recently made an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s show “Club Shay Shay”. On the show, Adams was asked who is more athletic between NBA and NFL players, and he emphatically answered football athletes via Club Shay Shay:
“It’s not even close,” Adams said. “The physical aspect is just one piece, but when you get into the speed…they’re agile but just being able to move on grass is different.”
Adams added that the number of play calls and the amount of information NFL players are asked to retain is much more than NBA players:
“And we gone change the play, you might get three calls in the huddle. These boys don’t even be going to college for more than five minutes half the time in the NBA, so I don’t know how much they gonna be able to retain.”
In the interview, Sharpe also noted the physicality required to play football which Adams agreed gives him and his peers the edge. However, NBA players can argue that they’re required to play both sides of the court and thus have much more endurance and stamina.
There’s a case to be made for both sports, but NFL athletes typically have the advantage in straight-line speed, physicality, and toughness.
Randy Moss believes Raiders’ Davante Adams should chase a Super Bowl ring
Adams has yet to capture the Super Bowl ring that’s eluded him to date, though he could have a shot if he ever decides to leave the Raiders. Randy Moss can relate to Adams’ situation and believes he should go ahead and ring chase.
