Rams’ assistant could be hot name
We are looking at potential offensive coordinator candidates for 2025 after the firing of uke Getsy earlier this month. A new name that may be on the radar around the league as an OC candidate is Nick Caley. Let’s get to know him:
Current job:
Tight ends coach, passing game coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams.
Age:
41
Coaching experience:
He has been a coach for 20 seasons. He’s in his second season with the Rams, his first as the passing-game coordinator. He was on the New England coaching staff from 2015-22. His last six seasons here was as the tight end coach. He coached in the college ranks for 10 seasons.
Playing experience:
He played at John Carroll University.
Raiders’ connections:
He was in New England with Raiders part owner Tom Brady, who knows Caley’s abilities well. He also worked with Raiders’ defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. He is an uncomfortable connection: He knows former Raiders’ coach Josh McDaniels well. They are both from Canton, Ohio, they went to the same college and McDaniels helped bring Caley to New England.
What he’s known for:
A bright, young passing-game mind who could be the next Sean McVay protegee who hits big in the coaching game.
