Getting to know new Las Vegas linebacker
The Las Vegas Raiders recently signed linebacker Devin White in free agency. Let’s get to know White better.
Tampa Bay reunion:
White was in Tampa Bay with new Raiders’ general manager John Spytek from 2019-23. White, of course, was a Super Bowl-winning teammate with Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady with the Buccaneers as well. White joins guard Alex Cappa as former Tampa Bay players Spytek has signed with the Raiders.
About time:
Many Raiders wanted the franchise to draft White in 2019, but coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock made the surprise choice of Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell at No. 4 instead. White went to the Buccaneers with the next pick and many Raiders fans sadly watched White have early success from afar while Ferrell never became an impact player for the Raiders before leaving as a free agent in 2023.
Experienced starter:
White has played career regular-season games with 76 starts. He had a hot start to his career and was a second-team All-Pro pick in 2020 and he made the Pro Bowl n 2021. He has kind of faded some and had just one start with Houston in 2024. He signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia last year, but never played there.
College star:
White was a legitimate star at LSU. He was a tackle machine who won the Dick Butkus award, which goes to the best linebacker in the country, in 2018.
Horse man:
White has a love for horses and owns many and ha a major horse stable. He is often seen riding horses. The hobby helped his cope with the death of his brother.
