Former Raiders’ tight end starting in New Orleans
While this was supposed to be all about Derek Carr, there will be another reunion with a former Las Vegas Raiders player Sunday when they visit the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. PT.
Former Raiders’ tight end Foster Moreau is starting for the Saints.
The Raiders drafted Moreau in 2019 (their final season in Oakland) in the fourth round (No. 137 overall) out of LSU. Moreau was a fan favorite as a Raider.
He was always a role player as he was solid option behind Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller. but Moreau was a try-hard player who made some plays as a Raider.
He played in 61 games while with the Raiders’ spanning 2019-22. He started 34 games. Moreau’s best season as a Raider came in 2022 when he had 33 catches for 420 yards. In total, Moreau had 91 receptions for 906 yards and 12 touchdowns with the Raiders.
Las Vegas had interest in bringing Moreau back in free agency in 2023. However, while on a visit with the Saints, a physical discovered that he had cancer at the age of 23.
Moreau, however, quickly went through treatment and was cleared to play and he ended up signing with his hometown Saints.
He has been their primary starting tight end since.
Moreau was always an easy player to root for and it’s great seeing him doing well on the field and with his health.
