A look at how Raiders’ rookie class fared in win over Saints
Let’s look at how the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie class fared in a 25-10 win at the New Orleans Saints in Week 17 and what to expect Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers in the season finale. Kickoff is at 1:25 p.m. PT.
Brock Bowers:
The first-round pick had seven catches for 77 yards. He now has 108 receptions for 1,144 yards this season. Sunday, he broke three records. He broke Mike Ditka’s 63-year record for receiving yards by a rookie tight end (1,076 yards). he broke Puka Nacua’s rookie catch record (105) and he broke Darren Waller’s Raiders’ season catch record (107). He is nine catches away in Week 18 from setting the all-time reception record by a tight end in a single season. Bowers is simply a special player,
Jackson Powers-Johnson:
Powers-Johnson was back at guard because of an injury to Jordan Meredith for the second straight game after starting six straight games at center. Powers-Johnson graded out very highly from Pro Football Focus.
D.J. Glaze:
The third-round pick continued to start at right tackle where he is a staple.
Decamarion Richardson:
The fourth-round pick continued it with Jakorian Bennett out for the year with a shoulder injury. He played 100 percent of the defensive snaps for the fifth time in the past six games.
Tommy Eichenberg:
The fifth-round pick from Ohio State didn’t play any defensive snaps for the seventh straight game. He did play 22 snaps on special teams against New Orleans.
Dylan Laube:
The sixth-round pick was active for ninth time this season. The New Hampshire product didn’t play any offensive snaps despite several injuries at running back. Laube did play nine snaps on special teams against the Saints, which tied his lowest amount of the season.
Trey Taylor:
The seventh-round pick was active for the eighth game and played 18 snaps on special teams.
Not on roster
Seventh-round pick, cornerback M.J. Devonshire was cut and is on the practice squad.
Undrafted free agents:
Linebacker Amari Gainer, defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, safety Thomas Harper and wide receiver Ramel Keyton. Gainer played two snaps on defense (his first action since Week 3) and 22 snaps on special teams. Laulu played 75 percent of the snaps on defense. Laula, claimed off waivers from Indianapolis, had two tackles. Harper played 27 snaps on defense. The waiver claim from the Chargers had a game-ending interception and graded out highly by PFF. Keyton was active for the seventh time and played 13 snaps on special teams.
