Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani gave all baseball fans a scare when he left today’s game early with an apparent injury. But the news appears to be good.
According to Ohtani’s interpreter Ippei Mizuhara, he was only taken from the game as a precautionary measure. He expects to play on Monday against the Chicago White Sox.
“As of now I plan on playing tomorrow,” Ohtani said. He finished the game with one RBI and one walk in three at-bats.
The Los Angeles Angels attributed “groin tightness” to Ohtani’s early removal. But the Angels still went on to win the game, 6-5, to improve their record to an AL West-best 15-8.

The reigning AL MVP is already off to an incredible start with a league-leading 17 runs in 21 games. His batting average is taking a dip from last year’s, but he’s still on pace for career highs in numerous other categories.
The Angels seemingly have all of the tools to finally end their long skid and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. They have two MVPs on their roster and several superb pitchers on the mound. Shohei Ohtani happens to fall into both categories.
It seems like the biggest obstacle the Angels are facing these days is just staying healthy.
Will Shohei Ohtani be at full strength for tomorrow’s game against the Chicago White Sox?
