The Las Vegas Raiders are adding veterans with a plan to win year 1 of the Pete Carroll era
The Las Vegas Raiders have made few moves during free agency. Pete Carroll and John Spytek are finding cheaper deals while avoiding paying significant amounts to available free agents.
However, the players they have signed are veterans from winning programs. Every player signed besides Lonnie Johnson was in the playoffs last season. From Jeremey Chinn to Elandon Roberts, the Raiders are adding players who have succeeded in the NFL to the locker room.
The addition of Geno Smith could also be an approach to winning year one. During an episode of The Insiders on NFL Network, Cameron Wolfe explained the Raiders’ offseason plan.
Raiders under new HC Pete Carroll are attacking offseason with plan to win in Year 1, adding proven vets and leaders like Geno Smith, Raheem Mostert, Elandon Roberts and Jeremy Chinn to set the tone.

Most fans would expect more moves if the Silver and Black aim to win in year one. Spytek and Carroll might have a plan to fill the roster holes in the draft, but young players usually struggle early on. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the field and whether this plan leads to wins.
